Children, Teens, Adults, Life Stressors, Child Development, Anxiety, Perfectionism, Depression, OCD, Trauma, Low-self esteem
Welcome to your healing journey. If you have made it this far, you have already displayed an immense amount of courage. Courage is the first step that I find to be extremely important in therapy and to quote Tori Amos, “Healing takes courage, and we all have courage.” My name is Alex, and while therapy is all about you and your needs, one of your needs is a therapist who allows you to be your true authentic self, even on the days it’s hard. My hope for you as a therapist is to help you discover the goals, skills, and needs required to make your everyday life as easy as possible.
I am experienced in working with children, teens, adults, and parents that are currently navigating the stressors of life, child development, anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and low self-esteem. I approach each session with genuineness, care, and the right amount of tough love you may or may not want. In addition to the qualities listed above, I integrate IFS (internal family systems) therapy and CFT (compassion-focused therapy) into your therapeutic goals.
Both IFS and CFT focus on creating more compassion towards oneself with the use of reflection, coping skills, and “parts” work. Through this curious lens, you can discover how to improve emotional resilience and be kinder to yourself.
While discovering if this type of approach is best for you, it is also important to know if the person sitting across from you in this healing journey is also the right fit. Here is a bit about me: I received my Bachelors Degree in Child and Family Development with an emphasis in Family Services from Georgia Southern University (Go Eags!). After spending some time as a Pre-K teacher, I decided to pursue my Masters in Counseling at Mercer University. When I'm not in the office, I am definitely at a Braves game, binging reality tv, or spending time with my family and friends!
I seriously hope that the courage that brought you to my page can continue to flourish and we can get to know each other more!
